Since Pressable already includes its caching system, WP Rocket\u2019s page caching feature is now automatically disabled to prevent conflict with Pressable\u2019s caching.<\/p><p>You can read more about <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/wp-rocket-3-3\/\">the journey leading to WP Rocket 3.3 on our dedicated blog post<\/a>.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WP Rocket 3.4<\/h4><p>In November 2019, we released a new major version of WP Rocket <strong>focused on WebP images<\/strong>. WP Rocket 3.4 introduced the possibility for WP Rocket to create a separate cache file to<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/webp-use-image-format-wordpress\/\"> serve WebP images<\/a>.<\/p><p>We also customized access to WP Rocket settings for different user roles, improved our <strong>CDN rewriting feature,<\/strong> and gave a <strong>twist to our historic <em>Cache Lifespan<\/em> option<\/strong>. ?<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/3.4-is-avalaible.png\" alt=\"WP Rocket 3.4 is available\" class=\"wp-image-1801510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/3.4-is-avalaible.png 1024w, https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/3.4-is-avalaible-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/3.4-is-avalaible-768x384.png 768w, https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/3.4-is-avalaible-896x448.png 896w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">WP Rocket 3.4: invitation to update<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>You can read more about the enhancements included in <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/wp-rocket-3-4\/\">WP Rocket 3.4 on our dedicated blog post<\/a>.<\/p><p>Despite our initial expectations and the efforts of our product and development teams, we managed to launch only two new major versions of WP Rocket. <\/p><p>One of our goals for 2020 is to increase the number of major releases, making sure they are more consistent and abundant in terms of features. <\/p><p>To learn how we intend to achieve this goal, read on!<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Improved Quality, Robustness, and Reliability<\/h4><p>Already in 2019, we began improving our processes and approach to increase the quality, robustness, and reliability of each release.<\/p><p>We introduced automated <strong>unit and integration testing<\/strong>. We began <strong>documenting our standards<\/strong>. We <strong>strengthened our code reviews<\/strong>. We<strong> improved our QA processes<\/strong>. <\/p><p>We also introduced <strong>staggered releases<\/strong>. <br>Last April, in conjunction with the launch of WP Rocket 3.3, we started rolling out the new version to a small random sample of customers (10% of them). We slowly increased the customers\u2019 sample day after day, until we reached our full customer base on April the 9th. <\/p><p>Launching new versions of the plugin to all our customers <em>at once<\/em> was not always beneficial to our customers, especially if unexpected problems arose.<\/p><p>Staggered releases proved to be a beneficial technique to add an<strong> extra level of safety to our releases<\/strong>: we incrementally release the new versions to a given percentage of our customers, until we are confident the changes made in the new version are not causing any issues.<\/p><p>This new method helps to identify unexpected issues before making the new versions available to 100% of WP Rocket customers. We love this win-win scenario because it allows customers to update the plugin safely and our team to observe the evolution of each release more closely.<\/p><p>With each release, we actively used <strong>customer feedback<\/strong> <strong>to further refine our approach<\/strong>.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Stronger Development Team<\/h4><p>To have a more robust and reliable plugin, and to be able to work on more features in the upcoming months, a stronger team is needed. ? <\/p><p>With this motto in mind, in the past twelve months we invested in <strong>reinforcing our development team<\/strong>.<\/p><p>First, <strong>Greg<\/strong>, who was already working on our sibling <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/imagify\/\">image optimization plugin Imagify<\/a>, joined the WP Rocket adventure. <\/p><p>In July, we welcomed a <strong>new PHP developer: Cristina<\/strong> from Romania. In December, we completed the picture with our <strong>new Engineering Manager: Tonya<\/strong> from the US!<\/p><p>They all joined <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/wp-rocket-team-member-story-support-lead-developer\/\">Remy, lead developer for WP Rocket<\/a>, and they are already working together for a new year full of features and surprises!&nbsp;<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gathering Feedback and Reviews<\/h3><p>Getting customers\u2019 feedback is a crucial factor for every company. After months of scriptwriting and with the collaboration of the people at<a href=\"https:\/\/101videos.com\"> 101Videos<\/a>, in November, we published ten tutorial videos on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/WPRocket_Official\">YouTube channel<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p><p>The same videos are also accessible from the backend of our plugin: <\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/1\/wp-rocket-tutorials-backend-1024x532.png\" alt=\"WP Rocket Tutorial Videos in the plugin\u2019s backend \n\" class=\"wp-image-1818987\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">WP Rocket Tutorial Videos in the plugin\u2019s backend&nbsp;<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Our tutorials provide all the info you need to understand what a complete experience with our plugin feels like. From the first installation to the best settings, from measuring your website speed to more advanced customization techniques, we <strong>cover all the fundamentals of WP Rocket<\/strong>!<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/wp-rocket-video-tutorials\/\">Here you can learn more about the journey leading to the publication of our tutorial videos.<\/a><\/p><p>As part of the strategy to make our customers\u2019 life easier, we also dedicated some of our 2019 efforts to <strong>revamp our technical documentation<\/strong>. <\/p><p>Technical documentation is a crucial resource for our customers, it\u2019s basically the WP Rocket\u2019s Bible! Over the years we have added tons of content to our documents, so we felt it was time to tidy them up a bit. This year <strong>we flew to Troncones, Mexico<\/strong>, to spend an entire week of coworking, brainstorming, and fun on a villa in front of the Pacific Ocean.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inclusion and Diversity<\/h3><p>WP Rocket team is diverse and inclusive: for our company, the Equal Employment Opportunity statement at the bottom of job offers is not just words but facts.<\/p><p>Despite the diversity within our team, we can\u2019t say the same about our customer base.<\/p><p>Caching and web performance are two topics that shouldn\u2019t appeal to one gender more than another.
