{"id":486,"date":"2015-06-30T14:38:16","date_gmt":"2015-06-30T12:38:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/?p=486"},"modified":"2019-10-29T11:24:14","modified_gmt":"2019-10-29T10:24:14","slug":"inside-wp-rocket-may-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/inside-wp-rocket-may-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"How We Are Planning to Improve Our Customer Acquisition &#8211; Transparency Report 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is our monthly report where we share our business insights as part of our <a title=\"Transparency matters!\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/transparency-matters\/\">transparency policy.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Updates<\/h2>\n<p>In May, we shipped one minor version and\u00a0<a title=\"WP Rocket 2.6 \u201cYavin\u201d Has Launched With Better LazyLoad, Smarter Minification and more\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/wp-rocket-2-6-yavin\/\">\u00a02.6 Yavin<\/a> which is a major update including better\u00a0Lazy Load and smarter minification!<\/p>\n<h2>Revenue<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>$45 858 in revenue (+0,26%)<\/li>\n<li>785 orders (+1,9%)<\/li>\n<li>68 renewals (+9,7%)<\/li>\n<li>651\u00a0new customers \u00a0(+7%)<\/li>\n<li>3127 websites added (-4,6%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you follow our monthly revenues you will notice that for the past\u00a03 months\u00a0our revenue\u00a0has been\u00a0very stable around $45 000. That&#8217;s a good amount but we don&#8217;t have the same growth as the few months before.<\/p>\n<h3>Let&#8217;s have a look at our customer acquisition strategy.<\/h3>\n<p>Since the beginning, our customer acquisition strategy has been\u00a0very simple: having the best caching solution possible and fantastic customer service.<br \/>\nThis leads to transforming our customers into brand advocates who\u00a0recommend WP Rocket to others &#8211; this has been very effective for us.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime we had another customer acquisition channel which is <strong>blog reviews<\/strong> of WP Rocket.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a hard job to get the number\u00a0of reviews\u00a0that we have. Reviews never come by being passive. So basically I \u00a0contacted hundreds\u00a0of bloggers to pitch\u00a0WP Rocket to them and let\u00a0them know I would be very happy to provide them a licence \u00a0if they want to test\/review it.<\/p>\n<p>This strategy was very effective, most people know us because of these reviews. All of our reviews have been free, except for two which we\u00a0paid for \u00a0&#8211; WP Lift and WP Mayor.<br \/>\nBut a\u00a0few\u00a0months ago\u00a0I stopped contacting bloggers, so naturally we&#8217;ve had less reviews recently and we&#8217;ve cut our biggest customer acquisition\u00a0channel.<\/p>\n<p>So we&#8217;ve decided to put <strong>more\u00a0effort into this strategy again<\/strong>. Our goal is to have 1\u00a0new review per week. \u00a0For the past\u00a0month we have received at least 1 new review per week.<br \/>\n<strong>Mission\u00a0accomplished for now!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve also created\u00a0some <strong>partnerships<\/strong> to get visibility, which we talked about in\u00a0the<a title=\"Our reseller plan is now available!\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/our-reseller-plan-is-now-available\/\"> previous post about our reseller plan.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our\u00a0<strong>reseller plan<\/strong> is a very important \u00a0new acquisition channel. \u00a0We already have a few resellers and are in talks with some big companies. We&#8217;re very excited about this.<\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0the same time, we\u00a0are continuing our <strong>content marketing strategy<\/strong> with blog posts focusing on WordPress performance. These two latest posts are great examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/fastest-social-sharing-plugin-wordpress\/\">Which is the Fastest Social Sharing Plugin For WordPress?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Is the Avada WordPress Theme Really Fast?\" href=\"https:\/\/wp-rocket.me\/blog\/is-avada-theme-really-fast\/\">Is the Avada WordPress Theme Really Fast?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In\u00a0our business model, renewals are very important. In the WordPress ecosystem it&#8217;s very difficult to have a high renewal rate.<\/p>\n<p>We have to think and act more as a SaaS, that&#8217;s why we are currently working on automatic renewals.<br \/>\nMatt Mullenweg explains this properly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/freemius.com\/blog\/why-wordpress-plugin-developers-have-to-start-thinking-saas\/\">in a long video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully in a couple of months we will be able to demonstrate a large\u00a0growth that shows our strategy is working!<\/p>\n<p>We are continuing to do some partnerships. We&#8217;ve just done one with WooThemes\u00a0and we are very open to\u00a0any kind of new partnership.<br \/>\nFeel free to contact us if you want to partner with us.<\/p>\n<p>Another thing we want to do is <strong>stop multi-currency<\/strong> support.<br \/>\nAt the time of writing this (May 2015),\u00a0if you are from France, Germany or Italy, our pricing\u00a0is\u00a0in Euro, and for all other countries it is in U.S. Dollars.<\/p>\n<p>When we created our pricing 2 years ago, the value of the Euro was\u00a0much higher, so this was our pricing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Personal licence &#8211; 29\u20ac\/39$<\/li>\n<li>Business licence &#8211; 69\u20ac\/99$<\/li>\n<li>Pro licence &#8211; 149\u20ac\/ 199$<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The value was equivalent, but now since 1 Euro = 1,12 Dollars, it&#8217;s totally different.<\/p>\n<p>What we want to do now is have only Dollars for all countries. So this will increase our revenue\u00a0for the same amount of orders.<\/p>\n<p>Because we like testing and we try to be as data driven as possible, as of June 1st we&#8217;ve converted to Dollars for Germany. As of July 1st,\u00a0the pricing for French customers will be in Dollars.<br \/>\n<strong>Let&#8217;s see what happens!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Support Tickets \/ Happiness Reports<\/h2>\n<p>This month 371 support tickets (-7,5%) \u00a0were created by our customers.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a very great indicator for us because we had more orders and less tickets.
